Abstract

The problem of poverty is one of the fundamental problems that is the center of government attention. One important aspect to support the Poverty Reduction Strategy is the availability of accurate and informative poverty data. With the availability of poverty data and information, it is hoped that we can detect factors related to the problem of poverty itself.This publication explains the methodology for calculating the poverty level used by BPS and analysis of poor residents/households. The analysis carried out includes the development of poverty levels in Batam City, the depth and severity of poverty index, distribution and inequality of expenditure and the profile of poor households. The profile data on poor households presented in this publication is the result of data processing from the March 2023 National Socio-Economic Survey (Susenas).
